A radio sales professional assists and coordinates in areas of promotions department, including image, contests, appearances, station merchandising, advertising, community and public relations, attend scheduled meetings, help draft and monitor promotions calendar, and other duties as assigned by your manager. A radio sales professionals may work with clients to develop original web presence, incorporated in the various shows’ web sites. A radio sales professional advises host(s) in field production when needed and available. A radio sales professional works with editors to fulfill weekly coverage needs. A radio sales professional works closely with people associated with on-air news, music, and culture programming, including the newsroom and daily shows, to develop news and feature packages that enhance and extend broadcast offerings and archives for better sales revenues. A radio sales professional maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape keeping current on best practices in design, community, user experience, digital music rights, multimedia technology and digital content delivery. A radio sales professional gives strategy directions to online-exclusive features, including rich media, multimedia, and community content.
A four-year college degree or equivalent work experience is required for radio jobs. A radio sales professional must have excellent communication skills. A radio sales professional must also have ability to assimilate inputs from diverse sources to formulate coherent sales strategy. Experience in radio news production, particularly news magazines programs, and arts programming is also preferred for radio sales jobs.
